There are a number of different types of funding support that may become available to waste business from time to time. Some of these are briefly summarised below:
- Training – this could involve the Government funding or part funding an in-house training course through an approved Training Centre. For instance the Government's Train-To-Gain organisation has introduced a new Leadership and Management scheme which will give a £500 grant to eligible organisations for training. It will give up to a further £500 in
matched funding for training such as in-house courses.
- Capital Grant Funding - When Government departments feel that a strategic need or market failure has been identified, capital grants can be made available to help address this perceived shortfall. Capital grants are not usually available on a rolling basis and WMR endeavour to keep up to date with each programme and its deadline date for applications. Some grant schemes will offer low costs loans or equity release programmes as one of their options.
- Consultancy Support – There are various schemes available for which waste companies can apply. These could include sales and marketing support, business reviews, business plans and management support.
- Finance – access and information to raising funds and equipment leases at
- Business Support – advice and information on reducing business costs, resource efficiency and sustainable practices
- There may also be support available for protecting your Intellectual Property (IP) or for gaining certification to industry standards such as Publically Available Specification (PAS) or even in some cases for achieving quality or environmental standards such as ISO 9001 or ISO 14001
